According to the New Zealand Public Library of Science, a new study has found that plastic pollution in the global ocean has reached an "unprecedented level" since 2005, with approximately 17 trillion pieces of plastic currently floating in the ocean, with an estimated total weight of 2.3 million tons. If left uncontrolled, the rate at which plastic enters the ocean may accelerate several times in the coming decades.
We have always believed that recycling, environmental protection, and sustainable development are never just concepts. Feeling Recycling converts about 3.515 billion recycled plastic bottles into recycled fibers every year and processes about 95000 tons of plastic waste from land. In recent years, with people's attention to ocean environmental protection, more than 80% of plastic waste in the ocean comes from land. In order to better protect the ocean environment, Feeling Fiber has taken the lead in completing the Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP Ocean bound Plastic Certification) and has also become the first recycled fiber factory in the country to have OBP certification.
1、What is OBP certification?
The OBP Marine Plastics Certification program was developed jointly by the NGO Zero Plastic Ocean and the Worldbest Peterson Control Alliance. The general definition is that Marine plastic is a type of plastic waste that has not been properly managed and is discarded in the environment, it will be transported to the ocean by rain, wind, tides, rivers, floods. Plastic wrapped in the sea originates on land, excluding voluntary or involuntary waste caused by Marine activities. The purpose is to protect the ocean from the continuous leakage of Marine attached plastics (OBP) from land-based activities. OBP certification requires participating entities to recycle discarded plastic waste within 50 km of the coastline boundary and within a certain distance from the coastline. In order to reduce or eliminate the plastic waste in the range of rivers, tides, etc., washed into the ocean.
2、 What do we recycle Marine plastic for?
With the improvement of people's living standards, more consumers will have a strong sense of environmental protection, many brands have also launched Marine recycling products, such as NIKE, ADIDAS and UNIQLO (UniqLO), Nike in recent years has also used Marine recycling waste in the manufacture of NBA jerseys and some sneakers. As early as 2018, ADIDAS has been working with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and other clubs on Marine recycling jerseys. Feeling Fibers converts OBP certified Marine bottles into recycled Marine fibers. It is thus used for home filling, clothing and toy filling projects to help protect the ocean.
As a renewable environmental company, we are committed to protecting the planet on which we live, and we are committed to achieving the new Sustainable Development Goals, mainly because we recognize that strengthening environmental protection and reducing the risk of climate change are necessary conditions for business development. Environmental protection is not only an issue of public welfare and social responsibility, but also an increasingly global trend to promote the development of green markets and reduce the risks of climate change.
